Yiğit Gönlügür ( b. 2000, Izmir) is a visual artist who explores the intertwined relationship between humans, nature, and the landscape.

Drawing inspiration from the cultural heritage and daily life of the Aegean Region, Gönlügür’s practice is characterized by layered compositions in which figures are positioned close to one another. She creates scenes where proximity, tension, and collectivity intertwine. The figures sometimes blend into their surroundings, sometimes resist them, and sometimes dissolve within them. Exaggerated figurative expression and humor lend these scenes a character that is as playful as it is critical; thus, visual worlds emerge in which humans and their environment constantly transform one another and coexist, bound together.

In recent years, parchment has become a new area of exploration in her artistic practice. Inspired by Bergama, she explores the region’s deep-rooted history, its artistic echoes, and their contemporary reflections; in this vein, she is developing a unique new iconography.

After completing her undergraduate studies in Daniel Richter’s studio at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna, the artist is currently pursuing her master’s degree at the same academy.
